Intercultural Forum: Tired of Stereotypes? April 25th
Expectations and Experiences of Sweden and the U.S. The American Club of Sweden in collaboration with the Swedish Fulbright Commission, the Swedish Fulbright Alumnae Association, AFS Intercultural Programs, and Swedish Institute is pleased to host this timely and important discussion concerning our perceptions of one another.
A panel of former US-Sweden exchange scholars and students discuss their expectations of the country they would spend a study year in and what they actually found. This is an important evening for banishing stereotypes and exploring who we really are! Introduced by Annika Rembe, Director General, Swedish Institute.
Statement From the Board Concerning Recent Media Portrayals of Sweden
The American Club of Sweden facilitates the strengthening of bonds between the people of the United States of America and Sweden, through the exchange of knowledge, customs and ideals in social gatherings of its members and guests. The Club has been serving in this capacity for one hundred and twelve years, and therefore feels a strong responsibility to comment on recent portrayals of modern Sweden in the media that may have been unbalanced, and caused alarm to the families and friends of our members who are concerned about the safety and well-being of their loved ones living in Sweden.
